Silver Spring Pedestrian Accident Kills One Man

Montgomery County police have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle on a Saturday night in April in Silver Spring as 55-year-old Richard Patrick A. Parks of Silver Spring. The incident occurred on Georgia Avenue near Aspen Hill Road shortly before 10 p.m., according to a press release issued Monday.

According to Bethesda Magazine, authorities say Parks was attempting to cross the road when a northbound silver 2024 Acura Integra hit him. At press time, the circumstances leading to the collision were still under investigation. The driver of the Acura, who has not been publicly identified, remained at the scene and was not injured. Police have not said whether the driver was detained or if any charges have been filed.  The crash happened near the Aspen Manor and Northgate Plaza shopping centers.

Man Killed in Rockville Pedestrian Collision

Bethesda Magazine also reported on the identity of the man who died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Shady Grove Road in Rockville in late April. According to a statement issued Tuesday, the victim was 77-year-old Paul Jerome Marangos of Rockville.

The department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit determined that Marangos had been crossing from the median at the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Blackwell Road when he was struck by a 2020 white Genesis G70 sedan.

Emergency crews, including police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel, responded to the scene around 9 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian-involved crash. According to radio reports, the man was described as elderly and was found unconscious at the scene.

Marangos was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver involved remained at the scene, police said.

Man Killed in Gaithersburg Pedestrian Accident
