More Pedestrian Accidents in Montgomery County, Maryland

A sad reality in Montgomery County, Maryland: pedestrian accidents seem rampant in the MOCO area. It’s headline after headline, covering fatal pedestrian accidents involving men, women, and children of all ages.  The latest headlines are heartbreaking.

83-Year-Old Killed in Pedestrian Accident

The story was published by WTOP News on October 12th about a man who was killed in Rockville gas station. The story said, “The pedestrian crash occurred Friday at the FreeState gas station in the 500 block of Hungerford Road. First responders with the Rockville City Police Department and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene shortly after 8:30 a.m. At the scene, first responders found 83-year-old Charles S. Lazar, of Silver Spring, in the parking lot suffering from serious injuries.”

The story says that the incident happened when “Lazar was walking back to his car at the gas station’s parking lot when he was fatally hit by the driver of a white 2016 Chevrolet Silverado who was driving away from a fuel pump. Police said the driver was headed toward Hungerford Road when the collision took place.”

The victim was pronounced dead the following day; the driver did remain on the scene.

Hopefully, camera footage will help determine who is at fault.  In the meantime, Mr. Lazar’s family should contact a pedestrian accident lawyer to guide them through every step of the legal process.

Pedestrian Killed on Route 355

This accident occurred about a month ago, at 3 a.m. on September 17th. There wasn’t a lot of information available, but the story published on ABC7 News said, “Officers were called around 3:40 a.m. to the intersection of North Frederick Avenue and Christopher Avenue for a report of a pedestrian struck. An injured man was found at the scene and taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said. The vehicle involved remained at the scene.”

As in the other case, the driver remaining at the scene matters in determining fault. At a minimum, the victim’s family should contact a personal injury lawyer for a free, no-obligation consultation.
