Recent Accident on Route 50
WUSA reported that a multi-vehicle crash involving a fire caused significant traffic delays on July 29th, 2026 (which was a Wednesday morning), on westbound Route 50 in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near MD-704 (Martin Luther King Jr. Highway), forcing authorities to shut down all westbound lanes for several hours while emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.
Traffic backed up for miles throughout much of the day before some vehicles were allowed through in the early afternoon. By approximately 3:30 p.m., all lanes had reopened.
According to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS, firefighters rescued one person from a truck involved in the crash. The individual was transported in critical condition.
Motorcycle and Pickup Truck Collide
DC News Now reported that a Silver Spring man died after a motorcycle crash involving a pickup truck Saturday morning in Beltsville, according to Prince George’s County police.
The collision happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. on July 25 at the intersection of Cherry Hill Road and Sellman Road. Police identified the motorcyclist as 43-year-old Monday Williams.
Williams was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries but later died that evening. Authorities said the driver of the pickup truck was not hurt. The cause of the crash remains under investigation
